Principal’s Welcome
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the website of St Mary’s Primary School and Nursery Unit, Newcastle.
At St Mary’s, we are very proud of the happy, caring and inclusive school community we have created together. Rooted in our Catholic faith and ethos, we place every child at the heart of school life and are committed to ensuring that each pupil feels known, valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their very best.
Our Core Values are much more than words. They guide how we learn, how we treat one another and how we live as a school community each day. They help our children to develop not only as successful learners, but as kind, confident, respectful and responsible young people who care for one another and recognise the contribution they can make to their school, parish and wider community.
We believe that children flourish when they are happy, feel safe and have a genuine sense of belonging. Our dedicated staff work together to provide high-quality learning experiences, enriched by the many opportunities available within our school and the wonderful natural environment and community surrounding us here in Newcastle.
We were delighted that many of these strengths were recognised through our recent ETI inspection. The inspection provided an important opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the work taking place across our school and nursery and, importantly, to help us look forward as we continue to learn, develop and improve for the children we serve.
Central to that journey is partnership. We greatly value the relationships we share with our parents and carers, Parish, governors and wider community. By working together, we aspire to provide an education in which every child is encouraged to grow in faith, knowledge, confidence and character.
I hope our website gives you a flavour of the learning, friendship, faith, achievement and fun that make St. Mary’s such a special place. Above all, I hope it reflects a school community where children are at the centre of everything we do and where everyone belongs.
